State-dependent fluorescence yields through the core-valence Coulomb exchange parameter

چکیده
Total and partial fluorescence yield (PFY) L-edge x-ray absorption spectra differ from the transmission x-ray absorption spectra (XAS) through state-dependent fluorescence yield across the XAS. For 3d to 3d in octahedral symmetry we apply simulations of PFY and XAS and show how the atomic 2p3d Coulomb exchange parameter Gpd governs the differences in the L3/(L2+L3) branching ratio between PFY and XAS. Gpd orders the XAS final states following Hund’s rules creating a strong state-dependent fluorescence decay strength variation across the XAS leading to the differences between PFY and XAS.

Core-level photoemission study of Ga12xMnxAs
We have studied the electronic structure of Mn impurities in GaAs by Mn 2p core-level photoemission spectroscopy. From cluster-model analysis assuming the neutral (Mn) or negatively ionized (Mn) ground state, electronic structure parameters have been obtained. In either case, the Mn d electron number is evaluated to be ;5 using the obtained parameters, meaning that the neutral Mn impurity, if i...
متن کاملA long-range-corrected density functional that performs well for both ground-state properties and time-dependent density functional theory excitation energies, including charge-transfer excited states.
We introduce a hybrid density functional that asymptotically incorporates full Hartree-Fock exchange, based on the long-range-corrected exchange-hole model of Henderson et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 128, 194105 (2008)]. The performance of this functional, for ground-state properties and for vertical excitation energies within time-dependent density functional theory, is systematically evaluated, and o...
متن کاملAbsorption and fluorescence properties of oligothiophene biomarkers from long-range-corrected time-dependent density functional theory.
The absorption and fluorescence properties in a class of oligothiophene push-pull biomarkers are investigated with a long-range-corrected (LC) density functional method. Using linear-response time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), we calculate excitation energies, fluorescence energies, oscillator strengths, and excited-state dipole moments. To benchmark and assess the quality of the...

This talk reviews three aspects of hybrid phenomenology: eeective gluonic degrees of freedom, hybrid decays, and possible production mechanisms. The facile answer to the question posed above is that a hybrid is a q q system with an additional valence gluon. Unfortunately, this deenition is not entirely satisfactory as we shall now demonstrate. Consider rst, the case of QED in Coulomb gauge. Cou...
متن کاملQuantum Dots Attached to Ferromagnetic Leads: Exchange Field, Spin Precession, and Kondo Effect
Spintronics devices rely on spin-dependent transport behavior evoked by the presence of spin-polarized electrons. Transport through nanostructures, on the other hand, is dominated by strong Coulomb interaction. We study a model system in the intersection of both fields, a quantum dot attached to ferromagnetic leads. The combination of spin-polarization in the leads and strong Coulomb interactio...
